Alesis Micron

The Alesis Micron is an analog modeling synth first released in 2004. It features 8 voice polyphony, and is 4 part multitimbral with 512 patches (hundreds more can be written in addition to the memory), 64 multi sets, variable oscillators and a vocoder. Two filters can be set to any of the 16 filters types, including digital emulations of the filters; characteristics found in the Minimoog, Apr 2600, Oberheim Xpander, Roland Jupiter 8, and Roland TB-303 along with comb and formant filters. There is a rich modulation matrix which includes a nonlinear remapper, 3 loopable envelope generators and effects including flange, chorus, delay, reverb, phaser and drive.

The Micron is a compact version of the Alesis Ion. It is a 36 key keyboard compared to the Ion's 61 keys. It has 3 assignable knobs compared to the Ion's 30 dedicated knobs. It also gains a sequence, reverb and delay effects, and greater patch memory in comparison. The Akai-branded version is packaged as the Miniak. Watch a demo here.
